by archaic-entity on Jan.16, 2009, under Blog

The buses in london with the atheist adverts proclaiming ‘There probably is no god’ that i reported on previously have caused a bit of a stir with one bus driver in london who stormed out of work in protest, refusing to drive the bus.

Mr Heather told BBC Radio Solent: “I was just about to board and there it was staring me in the face, my first reaction was shock horror.”

Im so glad its causing a stir :D

Atheist bus campaign

by archaic-entity on Jan.06, 2009, under Blog

Who would have thought the news that there is no god would be delivered by a bus. Well, apparently there probably is no god, and we should all stop worrying and get on with life – i couldn’t agree more. Cant wait to see one of these buses! Richard Dawkins set the ceramony off with a big bang earlier today….

“Isn’t it enough to see that a garden is beautiful without having to believe that there are fairies at the bottom of it too?”

Nine Lessons and Carols for Godless People

by archaic-entity on Dec.19, 2008, under Blog

I cant wait for this on sunday – what better way to celebrate christmas but by taking the christ out.

Nine lessons and carols for godless people

So far the confirmed speakers are Stewart Lee, Phill Jupitus, Mark Thomas (who might be bringing along his grandfather’s travelling harmonium for a carol sing-a-long), Natalie Haynes, Chris Addison, Ben Goldacre, Christina Martin, Simon Singh, Josie Long, Jo Neary, Ricky Gervais and Richard Dawkins.

Music will be provided by Tim Minchin, Darren Hayman, Robyn Hitchcock, Phil Harris, Gavin Osborn, Colin Watson (aka Waen Shepherd) the fabulous Martin White Orchestra and more TBC

The evening will also include projections of classic archive footage of Carl Sagan and Richard Feynman.

Robin Ince will host the night.

Ill be there on sunday night at the hammersmith apollo – see you there?

Internet access or sex?

by archaic-entity on Dec.14, 2008, under Technology

Intel have recently commissioned a survey to show just how important the Internet has become to our every day lives… Harris Interactive polled 2,119 adults on Intel’s behalf, and their results have shown that 46 percent of women and 30 percent of men would opt to go without sex for a whopping two weeks instead of giving up access to their precious Internet for the same period.

A worrying statistic i think, but it just goes to show how much the Internet has come to dominate our lives, from simple email to social networking and blogging.

Food for thought…

Scientists Experiment with ‘Body-Swapping’

by archaic-entity on Dec.05, 2008, under Technology

Swedish neuroscientists this Tuesday managed to fool people into thinking they had exchanged bodies with another person – or even exchanged bodies with a manikin.

The teams scientists fixed cameras to the mannequins heads and connected them to two small screens placed in front of the volunteers eyes.

When the volunteers would look down, they would see the body of a mannequin where they expected to see their own.

The team then created the body-swapping illusion by touching the stomach of the mannequin with a stick while creating a similar sensation in the volunteers stomach.

“This shows how easy it is to change the brain’s perception of the physical self. By manipulating sensory impressions, it’s possible to fool the self not only out of its body but into other bodies, too,” the teams leader Henrik Ehrsson, of the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, said in a press release.

Comedic insanity

by archaic-entity on Nov.29, 2008, under Blog

Went to see dylan moran’s ‘What it is’ on Monday – His narcissistic take on life’s constantly tiresome hurdles is blindingly funny, i can highly recommend going to see it if you can grab a ticket!

On another comedic note, if your thing is to be utterly bombarded with stupidity from every angle at an astoundingly high rate – check out Tim Vines new DVD ‘So i said to this bloke’ – His mind bogglingly ridiculous use of props will have you chuckling until it hurts.

One last thing! If your in the london area, check out Comedy at the metro which is alternate teusdays at the metro near Westbourne Park Tube station!
